“24” COSTUMES INCLUDING JACK BAUER’S JEANS ON AUCTION FOR CHARITY AS SEASON WRAPS

Proceeds from the Clothes Off Our Back auction will benefit Variety the Children’s Charity of Southern California and the Stroke Association of Southern California


LOS ANGELES, May 19, 2009 – Fans of the explosive hit show “24” have the chance to own costumes worn by some of their favorite characters. The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation is currently hosting the auction of three pieces of memorabilia from the show. Jack Bauer's jeans worn by actor Kiefer Sutherland, Martha Logan's sweater worn by actress Jean Smart and Nadia Yassir's necklace worn by actress Marisol Nichols are up for auction at http://www.clothesoffourback.org. The auction began Monday, May 18, 2009 and proceeds will benefit both Variety the Children’s Charity of Southern California and the Stroke Association of Southern California. Fans have the chance to bid before time runs out on Wednesday, June 3rd.

Viewers may recognize the costumes from the sixth season of the show. The blue jeans were worn by Kiefer Sutherland throughout most of season as he portrayed Jack Bauer. Jean Smart sported the teal sweater on episode #613 when character Martha Logan stabbed former President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin) in her bungalow. Marisa Nichols could be seen wearing the gold hand of Fatima necklace throughout much of season six as she played character Nadia Yassir.

Every Day, the entertainment and fashion communities come together for The Clothes Off Our Back Foundation, a 501c3 organization that hosts charity auctions showcasing today’s hottest celebrity attire. Items are put up for bid daily to the public with proceeds going to benefit children’s charities. Clothes Off Our Back was founded by actors and philanthropists Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle, Raising the Bar) and Bradley Whitford (The West Wing, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip) whose efforts, along with their celebrity and designer friends, have helped improve the lives of children across the globe.

Variety – The Children’s Charity of Southern California (www.varietysocal.org) is the local chapter of an expansive global network, Variety International – The Children’s Charity, that assists afflicted children in 14 nations who have nowhere else to turn. Since 1927, worldwide, Variety has raised over $1.5 billion to aid children with special needs. The Southern California chapter (Tent 25) was founded in 1941 as a nonprofit organization with the express mission to provide life-saving and life-enriching assistance to kids with special needs. In 2008, Keira Knightly’s green dress from “Atonement” sold for $35,000 in a Clothes Off Our Back auction that benefited Variety – the Children’s Charity of Southern California and most recently, a suit worn by actor Sean Penn in the Oscar-winning MILK raised over $12,000 for charity.
